Project Overview

A thoughtful renovation of a 1920s family home in Brighton, balancing heritage character with contemporary living. The design opens up the ground floor to create a seamless flow between kitchen, dining and living areas, while maintaining the home's original charm.

In the living area, a seamless connection is established between the indoors and the lush garden outside. Large sliding glass doors allow natural light to flood the space, enhancing the warmth of the materials used throughout. We curated a selection of contemporary furniture pieces mixed with vintage finds to add character and depth.

The Challenge

The narrow site required careful planning to maximise natural light while maintaining privacy from neighbouring properties and respecting the heritage character of the area.

Our Solution

We introduced a central courtyard that acts as a light well, while strategic placement of windows ensures cross-ventilation and borrowed views. The material palette honors the original home while introducing contemporary elements.

The Outcome

A home that balances openness with intimacy, creating distinct zones for family life while maintaining a strong connection throughout. The updated layout improves flow and functionality.
